Holocaust History and Human Rights


The Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies together with the Understanding Human Rights All-Ukrainian Educational Program announced a new project that will be implemented in 2011 – 2012. The project is supported by the Matra Kap Program and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ukraine.

The project title is Holocaust History and Human Rights. Its aim is to examine possibilities for the integration of human rights and holocaust education. Both subjects are closely connected, however this connection is rarely used in either human rights or holocaust education. The project intends a number of activities to examine this connection, opening of a special forum and a publication on this topic.

After 2 three-day seminars, 2 distance courses and a final conference there will be trained a group of 25 teachers, who will be able to teach human rights through the prism of historical memory related to Holocaust. Information about the program will be spread through the websites of the Center for Holocaust Studies, the Understanding Human Rights Program and thкough the Information and Education Bulletin of the Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies.
